SOUTHPORT, FL. – Right after Hurricane Michael, Southport Baseball was apprehensive they wouldn’t have a baseball year come February. Their fields have been absolutely wrecked by the storm. The Bay County group performed a significant component in obtaining these fields up and working, but the plan is obtaining aid from some nationwide corporations.
“We’ve been in contact with Dick’s Sporting Goods, we’ve been in contact with men and women from the Braves, we’ve been in contact with county commissioners, the Metropolis of Panama Metropolis isn’t going to have a dog in the battle as considerably as area group baseball but they stepped up and have been willing to aid us cause there was such a spouse and children atmosphere right here,” Southport Baseball treasurer Amy Hayes said.
When Southport attained out to the Atlanta Braves, they jumped on the possibility to aid. The Braves Senior Coordinator for Group Affairs Jarrod Simmons attained out to other corporations about obtaining the smaller baseball plan what they wanted. These organizations said they would have in no way of recognized of Southport Baseball if it was not for the braves.
And obtaining aid from a significant league team like the braves is not only large for the plan but large for the kids actively playing as well.
“Just when you have a down day and then you listen to some great news and it circles again and delivers its all together for you that we really usually are not forgotten and that we will make it through,” Southport Group Outreach Liasion Whitney Mims. “And Bay County is gonna come again greater and much better than we have been right before.”
