Atlanta Braves News
When you have three Gold Glove award winners on one team the competition can be fierce for the top defensive play of the year. Yet it was a non-Gold Glove winner who took home the honor for the Atlanta Braves in 2018 for the Atlanta Braves.
No Braves’ pitchers made MLB.com’s list of 10 impressive debuts for the 2018 season. Feels like Mike Soroka could have been here if not for the shoulder injury and Touki Toussaint would have been a possibility had he debuted a bit sooner. Still it is a good looking list headlined by the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani.

Jonathan Lucroy’s tour of the AL West will continue in 2018 with the Los Angeles Angels. Lucroy and the Angels agreed on a 1-year deal worth $3.35 million which also includes some incentives. Lucroy has struggled a bit the past couple of seasons and hit just .241/.291./.325 in 126 games for Oakland last season.
Things were pretty quiet on the transaction front on Saturday but the Houston Astros did show up in a couple of rumors. First The Athletic’s Marc Carig reports that Houston have engaged in recent trade talks with the Mets about right-hander Seth Lugo.
Additionally, the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo reports that the Astros and Phillies have been trying to pry left-hander Robbie Ray from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona has retooled its roster with the trade of Paul Goldschmidt this offseason but hasn’t yet pulled the trigger on others like Ray and outfielder David Peralta. Will be interesting to see if that changes this next month with spring training just around the corner.
