Dodgers advance to World Series, defeat Brewers 5-1 in NLCS Game 7

Cody Bellinger and Yasiel Puig homered to help the Los Angeles Dodgers reach the World Series with a 5-1 win in Game 7 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers. Clayton Kershaw worked a scoreless ninth to preserve the win. The Dodgers will face the Boston Red Sox with Game 1 on Tuesday.

Cody Bellinger named NLCS MVP

Bellinger’s two-run second inning home run gave the Dodgers the lead in Game 7. He was named MVP of the NLCS despite going just 5-for-25 in the series. He also delivered a walk-off single in the 13th inning of Game 4 for the Dodgers.

The Miami Marlins are expected to announce the signing of Cuban prospects Victor Victor Mesa and Victor Mesa Jr. in a press conference Monday morning. Reports suggest that Victor Victor Mesa will receive a bonus in excess of $5 million.

Jose Altuve Undergoes Knee Surgery

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve underwent surgery on his right knee Friday to repair a patella avulsion fracture. Altuve dealt with knee pain throughout the second half of the season and finished the ALCS at DH rather than his normal second base.

David Bell appears to be the front runner to become the next manager of the Cincinnati Reds. Bell has never managed in the majors and is currently the Giants’ vice president of player development.
